Last chance to enter photo competition celebrating outdoor spaces in Charnwood
Time is running out to enter a photo competition which will showcase the borough’s fantastic parks and open spaces.
Charnwood Borough Council launched the ‘Love the outdoors in Charnwood’ photo competition earlier this summer to celebrate the borough’s wide variety of country parks, nature reserves and ancient woodlands.
Over 50 entries have already been received and residents only have a few weeks left to enter.
All people need to do to enter is grab their phones or camera and capture snaps at their favourite park or open space in Charnwood.
Cllr Anne Gray, the Council’s lead member for open spaces, said: “It is great to see so many photos have already been entered this year.
“The competition offers the perfect reason to get outside and explore the hundreds of acres of outdoor space our borough has to offer.
“There are three different categories including one for youngsters under the age of 16. With the school holidays in full swing, it is also a good opportunity to get the kids involved.
“So whether you’re heading to your local park for a picnic or meeting up with friends for a morning stroll, remember to take a photo and enter. You just never know, you may be one of this year’s winners!”
Photos need to have been taken in the last six months and there are three different categories for people to enter:
Open category (age 16 and above)
Young photographer (under 16s)
Wonderful wildlife (open to all ages)
The competition is also being supported by Love Loughborough BID and vouchers will be up for grabs for the winner and two runners-up in each category.
Winners will receive a £50 voucher and a £25 voucher will be awarded to each runner-up.
A selection of photos will be shared across the Council’s social media channels after the winners have been announced.
Entries close at 5pm on Monday August 28, 2023 and winners will be contacted directly.

The ‘Love the outdoors in Charnwood’ campaign, launched by the borough council last year, encourages people to explore the stunning outdoor spaces on their doorstep, enjoy being around nature and spend time outside.
As part of the campaign, a series of short videos showcasing some of the beautiful sites people can visit in the borough can be viewed on the Council’s website. They are also being shared across its social media channels.
In addition, a leaflet was produced to provide an overview of the campaign and includes a map demonstrating where some of the amazing sites can be found. The leaflet is available at local venues and can also be downloaded from the Council’s website.
If you would like to get involved, please search the hashtag on Twitter #LoveCharnwoodOutdoors; visit the Council’s Facebook page or tag us in your photos on Instagram @CharnwoodBC.
