Holiday Activity Programme returns this summer
A small number of holiday activities will be on offer in Charnwood this summer.

The borough council’s Active Charnwood team has put together the programme of in-person activities to help children and their families stay active over the school holidays.

All events will be Covid secure.

The five-week programme will offer sessions for children and the whole family including den building, orienteering, family Olympics and love family fit.

The programme starts on Monday July 19 and finishes on Friday August 20.

The majority of activities will take place outdoors at locations across the borough including Loughborough, Shepshed and Barrow.

Bouldering is the only activity which will take place indoors and will be hosted at the Climbing Station in Loughborough.

Covid security measures including a limit on numbers and hand sanitiser stations will be in place to help keep people safe.

Cllr Leigh Harper-Davies, the Council’s lead member for community support and equalities said: “It’s great to see our holiday activity programme return for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

“The team has worked really hard to pull the programme together which is mainly focusing on outdoor activity to reduce the risk of transmission and to keep people safe.

“Our holiday activity programme has been hugely popular in the past and I know it’s return will be welcomed by many residents.

“As the programme and capacity for each activity is limited this year, I would encourage people to book as early as possible to ensure they get a space.”

Sessions will follow the latest Government advice on Covid security at all times.

Bookings are now open, and spaces can be booked online with the price of sessions starting at £6.

Discounts are available for Wild Card holders. If you are aged five to 16, or have a disability, and live or go to school in Charnwood, you may be able to sign up to the Wild Card scheme by visiting charnwood.gov.uk/wildcard
