Council tax rebate to help with energy bills coming April 1
The Government has announced a £150 council tax rebate (payment) for households in bands A to D to help households with rising energy costs.
The energy price cap will rise from April 1, 2022 – which is expected to cause many households to struggle with their energy and heating bills.
From April 1, most households in council tax bands A to D will qualify for a payment (rebate) of £150. We will make a payment to households and the payment will not have to be repaid.
Further details will be available at www.charnwood.gov.uk/ctenergyrebate once we receive government guidance.
For people who pay council tax by direct debit, in most cases, the rebate will go directly into bank accounts. If you don’t already pay by direct debit, you might want to sign up. This will make sure the rebate is paid to you quickly.
You can sign up at www.charnwood.gov.uk/DD.
