Festive cheer coming to Loughborough with the Christmas lights switch-on
Loughborough will be getting into the festive spirit with the Christmas lights switch-on on Sunday November 26.
The event, organised by Charnwood Borough Council, will be a day of festive fun ahead of the lights being switched on in the evening.
Market Place will host a wide range of stalls, food and drink stands and fairground rides from 11am and then from 1pm, a host of talented performers will be appearing on the main stage to entertain the crowd.
The lights will be switched on at 5pm by this year’s Light up Loughborough winner, a competition run by the Council to find a deserving youngster to switch-on the town’s Christmas lights. The winner of the competition will be announced later this week.
Local radio station, Fosse 107 will be hosting the stage at this year’s lights switch-on with thanks to headline sponsor, Loughborough Kia.
Cllr Jennifer Tillotson, the Council’s lead member for economic development, regeneration and town centres, said: “It is fantastic to see that Loughborough will be looking festive again with the Christmas lights switch-on.
“I’m looking forward to seeing visitors and residents enjoy the entertainment and stalls ahead of the lights being switched on in the evening.”
The Sock Gallery in Loughborough Town Hall will be hosting a Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair from 11am-5pm, selling handmade products from local and national makers.
