Leicestershire County Council have taken back the cutting of grass verges in Thurcaston and Cropston.
The verges will be cut once a month and this commenced in April 2022.

I and many others feel strongly about the indiscriminate mowing of roadside verges.
If a programme to cut verges
was planned for February and August onwards, it would be so beneficial to wildlife, which is struggling. If a strip was cut near roads, and around signage and seats it would not obstruct road safety issues. Cutting after August would allow wildflowers to seed.
The environment is struggling, and we should do everything we can do to help it.
